Role play teaching strategy
Role play is one of the approaches to learning. It is an active learning strategy in which
learners explore situations in real life by interaction with other people in a way that is usually
managed to gain experience and also to try out a variety of strategies in an environment that the
learning is supported. The main intention of the activity is to determine whether the students will
either play a role that has similarities to their own or could play the different parts of the
conversation. These two options are opportunities for learning. Students are playing a role
similar to their personal gains experience whereas playing the opposite part of the conversation
(Jarvis, 2002).
