According to Didion, people tell themselves stories in order to live, especially writers, at least that is
what they are told or tell themselves. That ideas and images from actual experiences were ignored
and those from narratives imposed on writers. Examples are as follows:
i) According to Didion, based on her actual experiences, she was a performer. However, that could
