“Stop selling our girls” by Anuradha Koirala is an appeal that is made to the audience
and overall the entire society. Anuradha Koirala, a woman passionate about human trafficking
among women, human and women rights, stigmatization against women and also women assault
and abuse. According to Anuradha Koirala trafficking is not well understood by people, and
especially rural residents in many countries fail to grasp the enormity of the problem and how
they contribute to the crimes. Koirala gives a TED talk on the issue and shows the efforts that
have been taken to reduce and eliminate human trafficking and what still remains to be done.
Due to the amount of work that is still undone, society continues to fight against trafficking, but
all forms of trafficking can only be dealt with once women rights and human rights are taken
seriously.
Anuradha asserts that it is the responsibility of all people to provide protection to the
people in their lives and more particularly women who are often dismissed, overlooked, abused,
trafficked and neglected. Women all over the world are at risk. However, the risk is more in
some regions than it in others depends on the level of development. For instance, developed
nations observe the women’s rights and have a system where any deviation is handled and even
punished. However, the idea of a more conscious society on the rights of women does not
necessarily mean that all the rights are applied and implemented. Anuradha discusses the issue in
