Describe the Atlantic Charter and explain its significance.

The Atlantic Charter involved a joint declaration that was released by Winston
Churchill the British prime minister and franklin Roosevelt, the U.S. president in 1941 after
the two leaders met in Newfoundland. The charter offered various statements concerning
the British and U.S. war aims. The meeting was called to respond to the European
geopolitical situation taking place in 1941 (Lamikiz, 2013). Regardless of being spared during
the German invasion of 1940, and the assurance of material support by the Americans,
Britain still faced severe defeats from the Germans after their forces and those of Greeks
and Yugoslav were defeated at Balkan. Thus they needed strong support since they also
feared that the Japanese government would attack their territories together with those of
Dutch and French at the south of Asia.
How were attempts at disarmament and outlawing war in the 1920s ineffective?
Countries could not properly agree on the disarmament plan. Only the Germans dis-armed, but it
was after being forced to do this. Some nations such as Britain felt that this was unfair and wanted
German to be allowed to re-arm. Britain, French and the U.S. had not agreed on this move until 1931. The
