Many nations are focusing on ways to enhance their borders amid security threats.
However, this is a topic that has elicited a heated debate following concerns from a section of
the society that such a move could negatively affect diplomatic and bilateral relations while
another section of the society feels that this could effectively reinforce the border security. For
instance, in a recent article, it was reported that border walls have threatened the diplomatic
relations between nations such as the US and Mexico as it inhibits not only the movement of
people through the legal channels but also the movement of goods across the border (Stephen
86). On the other hand, building border walls has been touted as a way to promote a nation’s
sovereignty and control over its borders (Becker 2). As a result, this topic has resulted in a
division among many people as it is unclear whether or not building a wall could be beneficial
to them and their nations as well. This paper will explore whether or not it is a good decision
