Focus groups are a technique of gathering data that is used in qualitative as well as
ethnographic research (Krueger & Casey, 2014). Therefore, many assumptions about
ethnographic data are shared within these groups. Focus groups are generally small, but the
group of people within are diverse. The reactions of these people are studied through open of
guided discussions about a new product in the market to examine the normal responses from the
general population. The reason as to why focus groups are conducted is to ensure that there is
brainstorming and coming up with solutions on the issue at hand.

There are ways focus groups are done to ensure that the participants understand their
roles and also feel they are not coerced to take part in the research. It is important for the
researcher to ensure that the participants in focus groups are comfortable. The first step in the
