Human Memory
Scientists have tried to know what memory is, how it works and why it does wrong at
times. They have gone through extra lengths just to study and know all about it since it is an
essential part that makes as truly human. Despite their efforts, the human memory remains the
most misunderstood and obscure human attribute. Memory is the ability of human beings to
retain, store, encode and recall information and past experiences in the brain. In the light to the
current psychological and biological understanding, experts have come to believe that memory is
indeed far more multifaceted and understated.
Seemingly, our memory is not located in one specific place in the brain; rather it is a
brain-wide procedure where numerous different regions of the brain act in union with one
another. The memory consists of an information processing theory which is the mechanisms in
which learning occurs, precisely focusing on the retrieval of the coded memory (Cowan, 1988).
For one, the theory associates thought mechanism to a computer’s in which the information
gathered from the senses is processed and stored by the brain which finally brings out the
behavioral response output.
