Week 3 Broken Promises Think back on a time when a friend, colleague, or business associate promised or agreed to do something but did not follow through. For example, did someone agree to sell you something but at the last minute changed the price, or perhaps someone agreed to perform a service, but then never did so? Create a summary that describes a situation where a promise was broken. Next, debate why the facts you presented did or did not meet the legal requirements for a contract. Justify your response. Reply to at least one (1) post from a classmate. 30 words response required Student A My friend's unfortunate situation comes to my mind. She and her partner filed for divorce last year, citing irreconcilable differences, and the divorce was swiftly granted. She was also granted sole custody of their three year old son. Though my friend is a working woman, her moderate salary doesn't allow her to comfortably manage the household expenses. The court recognized that and decided that she had full entitlement to alimony. Though the couple split amicably, and the divorce proceedings were relatively smooth, my friend's ex husband has failed to make even a single alimony payment, leaving her extremely distressed. Laws regarding alimony make it abundantly clear that if one's spouse is financially unable to make ends meet, they are required by the state to pay alimony. My friend's ex husband's behavior is therefore clearly a breach not just of trust, but what is essentially a legal agreement. Not being able to pay what's due to be paid is not only ethical but also illegal. bryn 30 words response required Student B I few years ago I filled out an application to rent out an apartment complex. I put down a security and my move in date was supposed to be 03-15-2009. Not only I put down a security deposition. I paid prorated rent for the dates 03-15-09 to 03-31-09. March 15th came and I rent to the leasing office to get my keys and they stated that the apartment was not ready. I was advised to come back on 03-20-18. Mind you I paid for prorated rent from 03-15 to 03-31. The remaining of the month passed and still the apartment was not ready. I went to the office to get recourse on the rent I paid 03-31-09. The amount of money I paid from 03-15 to 03-31 was credited to April's rent and they gave me half of my deposit back. In this situation, they remedied their short comings when they breached contract that apartment would be ready March 15. sha ...
