Essay Topic: Please explain your understanding of the rigors of doctoral education and your chosen program.

  • What research have you done on doctoral education?
  • What first interested you in wanting to pursue a doctorate? I want to teach at the University level. It also provides more opportunities for job advancement.
  • What made you choose this specific program? I have a MBA with a concentration in Logistics. By adding an DBA with Global supply chain will make more well rounded professional.
  • What's your understanding of what it takes to complete a doctoral degree? Hard work and dedication with a lot of research
  • What do you want this degree to do for you that you cannot do with your current credentials? Teach at a University
  • How much time per week are you planning to spend on your studies? 20hrs
  • In what ways do you have the support of the people around you? I am married and i support my wife's decision to get a Masters in Education
  • What arrangements have you made with your family to ensure that you have the time and resources to complete this program?
  • Does your family understand your commitment to completing a PhD?
  • What activity(ies) in your life are you planning to give up to have the time and energy to complete this program? I will no longer work my part time job.
  • How will completing this degree enhance your personal and professional life? It will allow me to grow my personal business and also update my resume.

Essay Requirements:
  • 500-750 words (approximately two to three pages in length)
  • Adhere to a standard essay format that demonstrates complete and coherent statements that can be understood with relative ease.
  • Appropriately organized into paragraphs showing consistent command of word usage, grammar, punctuation, sentence construction, and spelling.
  • Must directly address the topic; there is no "wrong answer"; however, it must be clear that you have actually constructed an essay around this topic.
