Running head: INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION
Intercultural communication is recognized as the verbal as well as the nonverbal
interaction between individuals from different cultural backgrounds. Communicating or sharing
information with people from other cultures and social groups requires one to have intercultural
skills. It is an area that creates the understanding that different cultures have different standards,
customs, and also different thought patterns. It is worth noting that as the world gets smaller,
intercultural communication offers the ability for one to deal across cultures which is of great
significance. This paper revolves around my experience by partaking in an intercultural
communication with Hinduism culture.
Visiting the Miami Lakshmi Narayan Mandir (Hindu Society of America) located in
South Florida has turned out to be an amazing experience for me as far as intercultural
communication is concerned. Being in the center gave me a tremendous opportunity to learn a lot
about Hinduism and exploring religious diversity. My family and I visited the Hindu Temple and
attended one of their services and later explored the place more (Melton, & Jones, 2011).
