Y represents the yearly tuition and fees, X is the year, 1813.1 is the coefficient of year and 4000000 is the constant. The value of R squared represents the model’s goodness of fit. To predict the yearly tuition and fees in 2018: Y = 1813.1 (2018) – 4000000 = |341,164.2| HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES SCENARIO 3 According to my generated trend line and equation, the predicted yearly tuition and fees paid in 2018 will therefore be \$341,164.20 in the absolute given a negative value was derived. I am 71.2% confident in these results given the R square value that is basically an indicator of the goodness of fit of the model.
