IDS 521 – Fall 2018 Assignment #3 Assigned date: October 8, 2018 Due date: October 22, 2018 For this third assignment, you can form a group of one to four students. For this assignment, you need to do both Tutorial 1 and Tutorial 2. You can download the tutorial files from the IDS 521 Blackboard site. They are located on the Content page. Be sure you follow the instructions in the tutorial files. In particular, type each object name (i.e., project name, table name, column name, etc.) as shown in the tutorials – uppercase, lowercase, and spaces in object names do matter. To do this assignment, you should have installed the SQL Server 2014 Evaluation edition (which includes the SQL Server Management Studio and Analysis Server) as well the SQL Server Data Tools. I have posted on the IDS 521 Blackboard site a PowerPoint file that shows you how to install both the SQL Server 2014 Evaluation edition and the SQL Server Data Tools. This PowerPoint file is located on the Assignments page on Blackboard. Tutorial 1 shows you how to create a data mart (data warehouse) for a hypothetical company called Maximum Miniatures Manufacturing. This data mart is a dimensional data model that is implemented in a relational database management system (SQL Server 2014). At the end of Tutorial 1, you should have a data mart called MaxMinManufacturingDM. This data mart has one fact table and nine dimension tables. All tables are initially empty. You will populate these tables in subsequent tutorials. Tutorial 2 shows you how to extract data from a transactional database called MaxMinAccounting (you need to download this database from an external website that is mentioned in Tutorial 2), transform the extracted data, and then load the data to eight of the nine dimension tables in the MaxMinManufacturingDM data mart that you created in Tutorial 1. The 9th dimension table (dimBatch), will be populated in the subsequent tutorial. At the end of Tutorial 2, eight of the nine dimension tables in the MaxMinManufacturingDM data mart should have been populated. To complete Assignment 3, you need to do the following: 1. Complete both Tutorial 1 and Tutorial 2. 2. Compress the Integration Services project folder (folder name: MaxMinManufacturingDMLoad) that you created in Tutorial 2 into a single zip file. On my computer, the Integration Services project folder is located at C:\Users\\Documents\Visual Studio 2013\Projects. On your computer, the Integration Services project folder could be located at a similar location. 3. Upload the compressed file to the Blackboard by 11:59PM on October 22, 2018. Note 1: You do not need to submit the data mart MaxMinManufacturingDM that you created in Tutorial 1 and populated in Tutorial 2. I have a copy of that data mart (an empty data mart). Note 2: When grading this assignment, your Integration Services project that you created in Tutorial 2 will be tested and executed. It should populate an empty data mart that was created in Tutorial 1. ...

Tutor went the extra mile to help me with this essay. Citations were a bit shaky but I appreciated how well he handled APA styles and how ok he was to change them even though I didnt specify. Got a B+ which is believable and acceptable.
