Annotated Bibliography Instructions

Rationale: In the course of your graduate education, it is imperative that you develop research skills that will support your instinct. Improving your effectiveness as a worship leader means keeping yourself current on recent practices and methods used by others in your field. Use this opportunity to explore what others are doing. This annotated bibliography is the first step to building your capstone project.

Choose a topic from one of the following:

  • Building Strong Staff Relationships
  • Building Teams
  • Conflict Management
  • Leading from the Second Chair

Note: The topic you choose for your annotated bibliography will serve as your topic for your Capstone Project.

Requirements:

  • In 1-2 sentences, you must state what topic you chose before your annotated bibliography begins.
  • You must collect 10 scholarly journal articles sources that have been published within the last 10 years.
  • 5 of your 10 articles must be peer-reviewed; be sure to indicate this in your annotation.
  • If you would like to use an article more than 10 years old, you must have it approved by your instructor.
  • Above your annotation you must include a current Turabian bibliographic citation.
  • Each annotation must include an overview of the article in 50-200 words.
    • Briefly describe the methodology used and the results the researcher acquired via the research.
    • If your article covers a quantitative study, record the hypothesis. If a qualitative or mixed methods study, record the research question(s) the researcher is investigating.
    • Do not directly quote more than 10% of your annotation.
  • Briefly record the strengths and weakness of this article to your role as a worship leader and your relationship with the pastor. How can you (or perhaps can’t you) practically apply what you have gleaned from this article into your everyday experiences?
