There are various areas of emotional intelligence. These play a vital role in the lives of
human beings, and especially because they affect the types of interactions that they usually have
with each other. These areas of emotional intelligence are motivation, social skills, selfawareness, empathy, and self-regulation. One area of emotional intelligence where I am
relatively strong is in the area of empathy. There is a critical part of emotional intelligence which
aids in a person being able to tell and identify the emotions that others have or are showing.
Empathy aids people to correctly know how to deal with others when they are showing different
emotions. It is a way of identifying how best to deal with people in different states of mind. This
influences the way I react towards people when they are sad, happy, distraught, and in any other
emotional state. Empathy makes it possible for power dynamics to come alive, so that a person
may be able to identify how social relationships develop, and grow. One will be able to identify
who is the most influential person in a group, who is moderately influential, and who is the least
influential. In view of this level of influence on social relationships, it is then possible to identify
how social relationships operate (Hasson, 2012).
The other area of emotional intelligence that I can identify with, especially one which I am
