Question Description

In your comments and responses to other students' comments, explain the way in which the article illustrates theories and concepts that have been learned within the course on this subject. You should emphasize the procedural issues and themes, rather than the case, itself. Your comments need to be meaningful (at least a paragraph) and critical in the manner in which it makes this sort of critical connection.

The society has heavily relied on the court system as ameans of persecuting those caught on the wrong side of not abiding to the enforced laws of the land. The laws were actually meant to promote peace and healthy correlation amongst ourselves and the surrounding environment. However, there are flaws in the court system especially when it comes to petty crimes and the long process that one has to undergo before being charged. Furthermore, one is left with a permanent criminal record for such misdemeanor arrests. This should not be the process or a way to go especially when it comes to such cases, the police officers should at least offer warning statements or even keep a watch for the behavioral changes of the culprit. This can be until he/she corrects him/herself and changes. Cases where petty crime have gone to the point of being tried in a judicial court system for misdemeanor cases should not be the case this is a clear indication of something wrong with the court system. Instead, life threatening cases are the ones that should be handled, and this would be the point where the society completely cannot step in, for fear of losing their lives and properties. Police officers would have the mandate of watching closely the petty crime law breakers, without demeaning their reputation by arresting them, and observe whether they are changing in a better way. ...
