People retire on average at age 61. Baby Boomers (born between 1946-1964) will most likely retire at about 61-66, except if they don't, because they need the salary, or just like working. If they do, the workforce is looking at losing approximately 40 percent of the workforce within the next ten years. Organizations will lose a lot of talent. It will be difficult to replace this generation with the next (Gen X and Y) because they are smaller and have a different concept of how they want to work (Loehr 2014).

If the Baby Boomers do not retire healthcare and pension costs are going to skyrocket and organizations will have personnel challenges such as keeping an older workforce up-to-date. Women are leaving the corporate world and becoming the competition. They are leaving their jobs because they've decided that they can do better by consulting or creating start-ups. Women are still getting paid about three quarters of what men are paid for doing the exact same job. By starting their own businesses they are guaranteed to get paid as equally as their male counterparts. With Baby Boomers retiring and women leaving the workforce minorities are going to become the majority.
