Marketing plays an imperative role in the success of any company. It is
important to note that most of the organizational activities rely on marketing. This is the
reason why most companies have embraced different marketing strategies to increase the
number of sales. If the company makes zero sales, the company would not exist. As
such, it is important to understand the meaning of the term "marketing." It involves
various activities that are related to the selling of company products and services. In
addition, advertisements are one of the most common marketing activities. Also,
consumer’s research helps to identify what the consumers’ needs or what they are
Another form of marketing is product designing. This plays an imperative role in
ensuring that the firm products and service match the consumer’s needs. Before a
business organization starts to market its products, it first assesses the market to
determine what the consumers want, and what they like, to make sure successful
marketing sales. In the modern world, the role of company marketing is very crucial and
cannot be ignored or overlooked. It can be noted that companies both established and
new are now competing in the same market. In this case, the most active and innovative
have emerged the market winners.
In the current world economy, most companies have come to note the
importance of marketing. Hence, they have come up with various ways of making it more
effective and efficient. Small companies are getting the support they need to dominate the
market they have also recorded a significant increase in the number of sales after starting
to use effective marketing strategies. Also, the organizational survival is based on its
ability to adopt effective marking techniques. However, the rate of competition has
significantly increased and this has been attributed to the adoption of new technology.
I have visited City Creek Center Mall to experience marketing strategies the
stores use to make their company be successful. In my visit, I focused on City Creek
Center Mall as it is largest mall in Salt Lake City and it is located in downtown.
However, I have focused on the technology and the electronic stores because this kind of
stores, people always like to visit to see what the new technology that have been released.
So, I have chose four company stores in the mall to assess them and explore their
marketing techniques. So in this paper, I will assess Apple store, Microsoft store, AT&T,
and T-Mobile Stores. Those stores are very popular in technology and electronic devices,
so I will assess their marketing strategies as well as what attracts me more to their
marketing. I chose those companies because they have adopted various ways of
succeeding in market strategies. Their marketing strategies are the reason for their
success. Each of those companies has come up with ways of convincing customers to
purchase their product and services. Apple, Microsoft, AT&T, and T-Mobile Stores have
been able to adopt effective marketing techniques that have played an imperative role in
increasing the number of sales in addition to accomplishing the set objectives.
Furthermore, those companies have also been associated with marketing their
new products with an aim of creating awareness, many advertising techniques, so they
can convince customers to purchase from them. They have also been involved in the
diversification of products and services with an aim of reducing the risks of selling just a
few product brands. This has played an imperative role in making sure that these firms
increase the number of product sales and market share. This shows how advertisement
affects customers' life and their choice of products. The four companies conduct
comprehensive product marketing that boosts their product awareness. They have been
able to use appealing ads that attract customers. For example, everyone shopping in the
city creek center mall can see Apple, Microsoft, AT&T, and T-Mobile put a lot of
signage throughout the mall to get people’s attention to their stores and location. Also,
those stores have put sign or signage of which the latest technology they have been
released throughout the mall and in front of the store to give customers an exciting
However, those companies are the most popular companies that have adopted
internet such as a social media platform to create more awareness and get people’s
attention. Those four companies have used social media to get the attention of youth from
different backgrounds. All four stores target especially youth and this is the main reason
why they have increased their online presence. Social media has helped those companies
to increase the number of sales as well as increasing the market share. Customers have
become aware of different products that are supplied by the companies.
Obviously, sales marketing is considered as the distinct function of company
process or activities, whereby the organization participates in its market orientation
procedure. The issue here is if marketing and product selling is important in the execution
of market positioning. Subsequently, I will ask myself the following questions: What is
the role of marketing in the success of the organization? What are the elements that
influence its role? Do the interaction objectives affect the market orientation based on
the business performance?
What advertisements do you notice? Why?
One thing I have noted about the companies’ advertisements is creating different
advertisements that are constantly on social media, television, or signs throughout the
mall. This advertisement technique is important in developing the relationship between
customers and the company offers. In addition to that, those stores use different
advertisements to insure to keep the consumers know about whatever new products or
services are released in the stores. Also, those companies have also been in the position to
use celebrities to market products they have. This is important in increasing the
customer's confidence to try new products that are available in their market or store. This
has also made the marketing very effective and more people, particularly youth, have
knowledge about the new products that have been arrived, and also costumer services
hence accessing them. This has shaped the company image and changed the way people
relate to the products hence giving them the confidence of buying them.
The four stores have been able to carry out marketing using the media, or social
media and other platforms such as Google. For example, the four stores use Google as
one of their market strategies, as people can find them in Google search or Google map.
This technique or strategies is important for the companies to make it easy for people to
locate them and find what is new to the stores.
Another point that I have experienced during my journal is the stores' location in
the City Creek Center Mall. The Location of stores is very important part in marketing.
The location of store can help the company get more attention from people. Also, a good
location is good for displaying the products the stores have. So I have noticed that all the
stores Apple, Microsoft, AT&T, and T-Mobile have good location in the mall, so that
they get more people's attentiveness.
Another thing that I have noted in my visit is that work place has helped them to
improve their revenue and making the employees meet their target objectives by
providing them a good environment to work in. For example, the four stores have
beautiful designs and decoration that makes the place very comfortable for working.
Moreover, the good designs and decoration can get people’s attention to come and visit
the store. Those stores have different and special designs and decoration and that is easy
for people to differentiate between them. For example, Apple store uses white with silver
design; Microsoft store uses different colors such as blue, and green with white color;
AT&T uses white color with gold color, and T-Mobile uses pink decoration and design.
Also, the adopted marketing strategy has helped them to improve their client
base. For instance, each of the four stores has improved the customer service and
technology support to get more customers’ trust. This has been attributed by the fact that
these companies are dealing with customers from different segments and where decisions
made encompass more than one party.
Apple and Microsoft marketing activities have also been associated with the
branding. Branding, participating in different activities has played an imperative role in
understanding customer’s needs. In these companies introducing a new product starts
with marketing and ends with marketing. When introducing a new product, the
companies make sure that the products are very effective and valuable brand to manage
customer’s needs. These two companies have always competed to be on top of
customer’s mind at the same time safeguarding their market share. I came to understand
that marketing is the key to developing a client’s loyalty and their retention. This has
allowed these firms to conduct products promotions, running adverts constantly, which
have helped in increasing the market share and customers retention.
On other hand, AT&T and T-Mobile marketing strategy has focused on
engaging the millennials. The companies have significantly increased their connection
with this generation, they have also ensured that millennials are empowered. AT&T and
T-Mobile have use social media to assess customers reaction and issues affecting them,
when an individual comment something about the products, there thousands thinking
about the issue. Using social media to gain insight and increase awareness about the
brand. AT&T and T-Mobile have started to change the wireless sector by removing the
data misuse and streaming restrictions, in addition to streamlining its plan opportunities
to the unlimited plan.
The other thing that I have experience during my visit is that lack of product
branding will make the company products to be completely illuminated and fail of the
company. Moreover, the company success is not only determined by the application of
money at different investment opportunities but with the relationship that the company
has been developed by customers, which marketing’s role.
Apple and Microsoft have used different marketing techniques and strategies
that are very attractive to me. One thing I noted in their advert is the sound that is very
appealing. I can listen to the music all day, I feel motivated with the background music.
Microsoft chooses the best musicians to make their theme songs. This is the reason as to
why you will get people playing them in the streets as well as downloading them. The
sweet and high-quality music used by these two companies have an impact on the
increased number of sales. The music played are always relevant to the message sent, it
rhymes with the quality of products that are being marketed. These sounds help in
effectively delivering the message to the audience. I have come to realize that when a
company is not able to use sweet music in its marketing there are high chances that the
listeners will forget the message fast. Microsoft music has always reminded me of their
products, whenever I hear that music something come to my mind and that is Microsoft
products. Using music also plays an imperative role in convincing customers to purchase
the products from them. I like these firms because they have adopted the most effective
ways of marketing their products. Apple and Microsoft use different media channels to
attract customers from different backgrounds and ages. They also send a personal
message via email and a short message on phone to convince their customers to buy their
products. This strategy has been important in enhancing their market share and retaining
customers. Another thing that I have noted is that the company uses the most competent
marketers to run their adverts.
However, AT&T and T-Mobile marketing techniques and strategies is based on

different sizes based on customer’s demand and needs. It can be noted that the majority
of people will prefer small phones as compared to another. The most people will prefer
small and slim phones. This means that all employees can get any type of phone they
want. This might have been attributed by the company market research. Furthermore, the
gadgets colors are different meaning that customers can get any color they want. People
prefer products that come in different colors and sizes.
AT&T and T-Mobile have worked with dealers in the industry to meet the
communication needs. This coordination has enabled them offer wide range of
communication solution in the world. The services offered has helped in solving of
networking requirement and preparing for the future as the telecommunication world
keeps on changing. The advanced technology has made both T-Mobile and AT&T to
become the leading network providers. The companies have come up with plans of

Marketing needs thorough research before introducing new products. Apple and
Microsoft have been at the forefront in producing goods of different sizes and shapes that
suites client’s preference. These companies research team might have noted that women

shapes, sizes, and colors. These attributes have made these companies remain on top of
the competition for a long period of time and there is no possibility of them losing the
