Adverse events are outcome measures which may at times indicate that the patient may
have received poor treatment or might have also received poor quality care. Adverse events display
outward medical outcome for a given patient, this might be as a result of a clinical subject
administering a pharmaceutical product which may have no relationship with the treatment. An
adverse event may therefore result to negative or unintended symptoms or a disease that is
necessarily related to the type of treatment administered. Some adverse events can be serious and
can result to illness that may need hospitalization, death, life threatening, disability, birth defect or
serious medical conditions.

Adverse events are therefore incidents or circumstances that bring about some behavioral
characteristics to some degree. These characteristics are negativity, patient involvement and
causation. With negativity, adverse events are events which are undesirable and detrimental to the
patient. With patient involvement, this event impacts the patient mostly negatively or with a great
