Multiple diseases and mental issues among adolescents have become growing global health
problems today. Most of the major mental issues and diseases usually emerge in childhood and
adolescence. In the current society, it is believed that diet is one of the major factors in
maintaining the health of an individual. Healthy eating is considered to a major means of
promoting health. In addition, it enhances the overall sense of wellbeing and is a cornerstone in
the prevention of various chronic diseases that face most of the people. Health and unhealthy
eating habits are basically influenced by a number of individual and collective factors. Health
eating represents a diet that is balanced and varied, comprising of healthy foods, fresh and
natural foods, fruits and vegetables, and foods that are comprised of vitamins and minerals.
Moreover, it is also identified as eating habits and behaviors that are consistent with promoting
health both physical and psychological (Oellingrath et al., 2014). This is the vice-versa of poor
eating habits, in which most of the Americans are unable to eat as required, or rather; they have
potential behaviors that prevent them from eating as expected. This is indeed a major concern
among the Americans as it has resulted in poor health and resulting in various diseases. In this
paper, I will analyze Americans and poor eating habits (nutrient dense) causing multiple diseases
and mental issues. The need to concentrate on this issue is vital because most of the American
people have engaged in poor eating habits that have led to increased diseases and mental issues.
