Hi everybody :-)
Because this is the last module before the midterm, and I expect you all want to get started preparing for the midterm, there is no "FORMAL" essay due this module. For this module, you do not have to post anything to turnitin.com. However, I may submit your responses to turnitin.com if needed. Your score for this module will be graded as credit / no credit only.
Please post your answers to whatever research question you pick directly in this discussion topic only. (no attachments) Academic Honesty is always expected, so citing sources, that means using both in-text citations and including a full work-cited page whenever you research any ideas and include them in your response, is always required.
Summary of key ideas, and transition to the decline of the Roman Empire:
In this module, we see the decline of the Roman superpower and the emergence of a new cult, a group of people calling themselves Christians, based on a historical figure, Jesus of Nazareth. Eventually, this small cult from Judea spreads throughout the Roman Empire, and by about 400 Common Era (CE), Rome is officially a Christian Empire.
During this period called Late Imperial, or Late Antiquity, we see many stylistic changes in art. No matter what option you discuss from the list below, you will need to think about what stylistic changes have taken place, and how the cultural context has changed in Late Antiquity, compared to the Early Empire. You will need to think about WHY we see these changes.
You are doing a fantastic job of posting relevant images, informative videos, web sources, and other scholarly information to help your classmates better understand the topics we've been discussing.
Your discussion prompt for Module 6:
Student Choice: Pick one of the following questions and post your response in this discussion. You should also respond to at least one classmates' posts about a topic that is DIFFERENT than yours.

2. Compare the Arch of Titus to the Arch of Constantine. How does the Arch of Constantine reveal a changing cultural context?
3. Compare the Ara Pacis Augustae to the Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus. How does the Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus reveal changes in religious practices?
Your response to the research question you pick should be at least 500 words (that one page, single-spaced, 12-size font).
Please remember "active participation" means:
Logging into the class and participating in this discussion throughout the module.
Posting meaningful, relevant, and thoughtful ideas that attempt to further the discussion.
Posting images, live links or relevant videos directly into the discussion, with meaningful comments about significance of these sources.
Active Participation IS NOT:
Saying "I agree with you" only, or "Thanks for posting" only. These comments do not further the dialogue. These types of comments do not constitute meaningful dialogue.
Posting 3 to 5 times at the 11th hour (really, like at 11:00pm in California) is not "throughout" the module.
Your grade for this module is based on how well you respond to the prompt you pick AND the quality and frequency of your participation.
