You have the freedom to choose the topic of the video. Pick a topic that interests you personally or professionally. For example, you might choose to create a video that documents a favorite hobby or one that satisfies a business need at work. If you choose wisely, you might even enjoy the assignment.The assignment requirements are intentionally general to allow for maximum creative freedom. The specific requirements are:Create and submit via Blackboard two files: a video in the .mp4 format and a Microsoft Word or PDF document with some additional information about your project. (Here is a template you can use.)Include in your written document a brief description of your video (a short paragraph is fine). Be sure to state what you intend to accomplish with your video. For example, it might be to inform, persuade, entertain or preserve a memory. I encourage you to write this paragraph before you make your video. Doing so will help ensure the final result is focused and to-the-point.Include in your video at least two still images. The images should be cropped, resized and color adjusted for maximum effect. Pan and/or zoom the image to create a dynamic effect (sometimes called the Ken Burns Effect). Panning and/or zooming gives the feeling of motion, and keeps the viewer visually engaged. Include in your written document original copies of at least two of the images used in your video. (We want to see what the images looked like before you cropped, resized and color adjusted them for the video.) Your video should have a title at the beginning.Your video should have credits at the end.Your video should be comprised of 3 or more clips. Watch any professionally produced video. Rarely does the camera stay on one scene for more than a few minutes (usually seconds). Cut the less interesting parts from your raw footage. This might be the hardest part of the assignment, especially if you really enjoy your subject.Your video should include at least one non-cut transition between clips. Non-cut transitions are used to signal a time lapse between clips. Don't overdo these. The vast majority of transitions are cuts--an instant change from one shot to the next.Your video should have a voice-over at some point in the video.Your video should have background music during some portion of the video.
