Body Shaming: introduction

Body shaming is the practice or the action of humiliating someone by merely making
critical comments or by making mocking comments about body size or shape (Daye, Webb, &
Jafari, 2014). It is also viewed as an expression of criticism or mockery about body size or shape.
The Internet is disgracing our health and giving us health issues such as anxiety and depression
among others. Many people wonder how and when the internet is shaming our bodies. It is direct
and straightforward, but many ignore the facts about it because of the benefits (Hope, 2017) they
get from using the internet. Regardless of the many benefits of using the internet, which cannot be
avoided in the 21st century as technology is being integrated into every life aspect, excessive use
of the internet creates health issues. The health issues related to excessive use of internet set in
slowly unnoticed until the health hazards are at an alarming level and that is when a person realises
that internet is surpassing his or her health by a very significant margin placing them at risk of
health complications. Spending a long time using the internet without physical exercises leads to
obesity which in return has high chances of causing anxiety and depression as it is stressing. This
