In every organization, the human resources department focuses on ensuring that each
worker serves to their best ability. Through recruitment process that helps to hire the best
employees in a particular segment. However many institutions face challenges and opportunities
where the firm has embraced equality and diversity in its operations. In this case, Equality can
contribute positive and negative support in the company. Equality in broad terms is the state of
being of having a similar status, earnings and getting opportunities without discriminations (Plan,
2012). This can be achieved where the human resources department contributes.
On the other hand, diversity has been a significant issue in the success of the business.
The difference in the industry creates an opportunity for all classes of people from a different
social background, nationality, race, cultural backgrounds beliefs and gender to come together
and work to achieve the set goals. Organizations that do not support this idea are likely to fail in
the business. This paper will discuss equality and diversity in an organization and how the
human resources applied theories and skills help in promoting the set standards. During this
literature review, the report will refer to Amazon and Coca-Cola companies and their approach
towards equality and diversity in their businesses (Lepak, 2017).
Human resource department is tasked in promoting equality and diversity in an
organization; the HR theories help in creating significant changes in workforces and business
activities. Coca-Cola and Amazon support equality and diversity in their operation. With over
100,000 employees (Coke Company) the firm has been able to diversify and enhance equality in
it services (Bratton, 2017). The firm has more than 1000 subsidiaries across the globe. The
management and the workers in these institutions are based on different cultural backgrounds.
