Introduction
Emotional intelligence (EI) is a unique way of being smart, a key to attaining a higher
level of performance at various levels and above all for outstanding leadership in an organization
(Schutte & Loi, 2014). One’s IQ is not the main deal on EI but their ability to manage
themselves, their relationships, and to be able to motivate those they work with as well. This
professional development program proposal is based on intensive research on Emotional
intelligence and describes the effectiveness of a new incentive program, which is founded on an
EI organizational management approach, in enhancing communication, fostering teamwork,
increasing performance, strengthening interpersonal relationships, and benefits all. The major
components of the proposal are EI and Motivation, EI and Social skills and Decision-making,
Effective systems, and reward systems. The role of EI in promoting employee performance and
motivation in an organization cannot be undermined, as it is key a determinant of the overall
organizational success.
EI and Motivation
EI plays a crucial role in the motivation of employees in an organization. Amongst the
building blocks of EI, the one that would have the most substantial impact on the management's
ability to increase employee performance, as well as their job performance, is empathy (Rathore
et al., 2017). This EI building block forms the basis of relationship management and social
awareness. It involves the ability to sense other people’s emotions and understand their
perspective. Having empathy is critical to the effective management of a successful team or
organization.

Leaders who have empathy are able to put themselves in another person’s situation. For
instance, an emphatic manager will first put himself or herself in the employee’s situation before
making a decision that affects an employee. They actively develop their team members,
challenge those who act unfairly, provide constructive feedback, and listen to their employees’
opinions, suggestions, or ideas. Emphatic leaders or managers are able to relate well with
different types of employees, listen to each attentively, and communicate in an effective manner
