In the book My Antonia, the author effectively uses symbolism to express mystical
concepts. The Nebraska landscape is one of the outstanding symbols the author uses to present
the broader idea of human-environment where people survive. The author uses the relationship
that Jim has with the landscape of Nebraska to presents Jim's relationship with others, the culture
of Nebraska and with his inner self. The author uses the landscape of Nebraska to show Jim's
feelings. For instance, the isolation of the land means that Jim is feeling deserted. The author
also uses the landscape of Nebraska to symbolize the lost past. While residing in New York, Jim
