Introduction
The Atkins Diet is a nutritional approach designed especially for persons that are aiming
to reduce weight. The diet was crafted by an American physician, Dr. Atkins. He designed the
diet to be a low-carb diet hence, it is recommended for weight loss. Studies show that
carbohydrates are the main reason behind the accumulation of fats in the body. Hence, taking a
low-carb diet and doing some exercise will help burn the fats faster and one will be able to
reduce weight. At first, health authorities were against this diet terming it as unhealthy because
of its high saturated fat contents. However, in the Atkins Diet, one is allowed to take in as many
proteins and fat they want as long as they reduce their intake of carbohydrates. Recent studies
have also proved that the intake of fat is harmless.
The diet has proven to be effective over the years, leading to weight loss and other health
benefits like reduced cholesterol and blood pressure levels. The reason behind this is that a low-
