1. Null hypothesis, H0: There is no significant difference in score on midterm exam
between the students who take chapter quizzes and those who do not take chapter
quizzes.
Alternative hypothesis, H1: There is a significant difference in score on midterm exam
between the students who take chapter quizzes and those who do not take chapter
quizzes.
The hypothesis can be tested by conducting a t-test (single-tailed) in excel spreadsheet
using the data analysis tool at a 95% level of significance. If the obtained p-value is greater than
0.05, H0 will be rejected and H1 accepted. However, if the obtained p-value is less than 0.05, then
H0 is accepted and H1 rejected.
2. Taking the chapter quizzes is the independent variable (IV) while the score on the midterm
exam is the dependent variable (DV).
3. An independent variable (IV) is a variable whose variation doesn't depend on another
variable. In this case, taking the chapter quizzes doesn't depend on any other variable. On
