Introduction
Leading an organization basically refers to managing individuals and groups. As a leader,
one is tasked the responsibility of managing both the internal and external organization’s
environment. In case change is required in an organization, a good leader should come up with
strategies of initiating and implementing the change with the support of employees. Other
desirable skills required of a leader are problem-solving skills, decision-making skills,
negotiation skills and consensus building skills. We are going to analyze a leader of a local
company with regard to how he displayed these leadership skills.
Leading and managing change
Being new to the company, the new CEO, Mr Lee must have felt have felt the need to
change the software that was being used by the entire company. The software that was being
used was a bit of archaic to him, compared to what he was used to at his previous company.
Even though there had been some shortcomings reported on the current software, employees did
not really feel the urge to change the system. Further, most of the employees had been at the
company for long and got used to the system. Being elderly, the need to start learning was kind
of frustrating.
As a good leader, the first thing Mr Lee did was to create an urgency for change. The
software that was in use involved the bulk printing of documents. He addressed departmental
heads and together they agreed that the printing slowed down processes, caused untidiness in
offices and was time-consuming. The software also did not incorporate all the departments
forcing them to use manual systems. Mr Lee compelled the departmental heads to embrace a new
system that would be used by each and every d...
