APPROACHING A FRIEND WITH AN ALCOHOL PROBLEM
Approaching a friend who has an alcohol problem would require addressing the
issue directly. The use of alcohol is associated with side effects both long-term and shortterm. The friend can become a danger to themselves or others depending on the level of
alcohol they are using. Direct approach in addressing the problem will help reduce both
the short-term and the long-term effects. Alcohol can result in intoxicating effects in the
blood. It affects the daily operations of an individual such as unsteady gait, lack of
coordination, slurred speech and involuntary to-and-fro movements which hinders a
person from operating expectedly. When the alcohol is taken in high levels, it results in
neurological and respiration complications and can lead to toxic death (Grant, Goldstein,
Saha, Chou, Jung, Zhang & Hasin, 2015). Addressing the alcohol problem will also
reduce the long-term effects such as destruction of the friend’s family and wasting too
much money ...
