Description

Complete this worksheet to develop your research focus for the course. To help you better understand the main parts of research process, this research topic will be the basis for other assignments in the course. The focus of the research process for this assignment will be on the problem and its justification (significance), and the research question.

Format: Write your responses underneath each criterion, rather than a formal paper with APA headings, within a one double spaced page limit (cover and reference pages not counted)

1. Identify your research topic in one or two sentences

Grove, Gray, and Polit (2015) define a research topic as "a concept or broad issue that is important to nursing, such as acute pain, chronic pain management, coping with illness, or health promotion" (p. 131). The topic you choose should be one that you are interested about that could be a situation occurring within your personal practice setting that is researchable.

2. Write your research problem that explains the background situation and justify its significance as to why it is important to research and how it could contribute to the profession of nursing. Cite scholarly source/s

3. Develop your research question

Research questions should be short, concise, probing, and include measurable variables. Grove, Gray & Polit, 2015).

Formulate a research question that includes the measurable independent and dependent variables and who or what will comprise the population. Within your research question, identify in parentheses the independent and dependent variables. [note: If you chose a correlation vs. explanatory design, identify the predictor and criterion variables in parentheses]

Factors Influencing Slow Service Delivery Among Patients at Laspalma Medical Centre
Problem Statement and Justification
A problem statement refers to a section of research which states the reasons for the
research, and the necessity for the study. The problem statement aims at convincing the
reader that there are gaps in the existing knowledge about the research problem and suggests
possible solutions. By contrast, justification refers to a section of a research document which
highlights the importance of conducting the study, and the intended beneficiaries.
The problem of slow health service delivery has also dominated the American health
service for sometimes, even though offering prompt health service delivery, is a fundamental
need among the public, and specifically the patients. The availability of quick and effective
healthcare service among the patients helps reduce the mortality rates, which arises due to
delayed health service delivery, and also improve their lives, thus making them productive
citizens. However, the American health system in some state has been characterized by slow
health service delivery where patients have to endure long ques or wait for more than six
hours before being attended. It is against the backdrop of this case, that this research seeks to
explore the factors influencing slow health service delivery among the patient, with the aim
of improving medical care for the American public at Laspalmas medical centre (Rothstein,
2014).
Purpose of Research
According to Grove, Burns & Gray (2012), research serves various purpose such as
addressing the gaps in knowledge about a specific topic, and the beneficiaries of that
research.
The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing slow service delivery
among patients in Laspalma medical Centre. This research will be beneficial to las palmas

medical officials and managers who formulate health policies since it aims at identifying the
specific causes and the remedy to slow health service delivery. The facts will provide the
centre with correct data and statistics of the hospitals offering slow or poor service to
patients. The implications of completing this study are vital because medical scholars will use
this information, to top up their existing knowledge about slow health service delivery to
patients. The statistically significant results of this study will affect the policies and
procedures of various health facilities since it will act as a guidance framework for the
development of more health infrastructures, and ...
