EDU 354 GCU Strategies for Development & Classroom Learning Classroom Learning Plan
In order to prepare to teach students with different developmental needs, teachers must be able to recognize typical and atypical development. Teachers must then use that knowledge to develop instructional and assessment plans that support the unique needs of students.Using the “Development and Classroom Learning Plan and Class Profile," select one student from the class profile. Based on the information in the profile, create a 500-750 word plan for the selected student that other teachers, aides, staff, and administrators could use when working with the student.Include the following in the student’s plan:An overview of the behaviors, patterns, and learning needs of the student based on his or her class profile, including any associated disability or disabilities.A list of three or more standards-based instructional unit topics that can be used to support the student’s learning and growth (e.g., for first grade, a unit topic might be reading comprehension of fairy tales or counting odd or even numbers).A description of one instructional strategy and one assessment used to appropriately teach students and track student learning with each instructional unit, which may include accommodations or assistive technologies.Description of at least three strategies to support the selected student’s learning and growth. Consider any physical, psychiatric, and neurological disabilities.Select one developmentally appropriate book, including authors’ name, to read with the student for each instructional unit listed above.Support your findings with a minimum of three scholarly resources.Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. ENGL 4 Northern Star New York Times Call Out For Inaccurate Reporting Letter
Media Watchdog Letter Because most of the media is owned by large corporations, there are some organizations who feel that the information we receive has an inherent bias. Additionally, how likely are we going to see stories that criticize these corporations if they own the news organizations doing the reporting? That is why there are agencies to call out reporters when there is a determined bias in the reporting. They are called Watchdog Groups. Here are a few: FactCheck - Typically this organization reports on the claims made from various politicians that has been reported in the media. It's a great source of information to determine if something someone said is true or not.PolitiFact - This one is fun because it has little graphics to go along with claims to let people know if something is true or not.Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) - This organization challenges media bias when they find it. Become a media watchdog yourself. Find an article from a news site that has inaccurately reported something and call them out on it. Review the sites above and pick one of the articles. Write a letter to a media outlet where you've determined an error in their reporting. To find the contact information for the media outlet you are writing to, try searching for it via the NewsLink or go directly to their website and look for the Contact Page. Be sure to use the business letter format and include the following information.Who are you writing to and why? What are you asking them to do?What misinformation or point of view are you
asking them to add to their existing narrative? Why would integrating your advice make their reporting stronger? What is the danger if they do not follow your advice?

As always be certain to reply to TWO other students' posts.First, which poem did you like the best? Why?What is "Not Waving but Drowning" about? If you watched the Youtube video did this help at all? In "We Real Cool" Brooks is writing about an attitude. What is the attitude she is writing about? Can you find that attitude today? Where? Are there words in Brooks' poem you might have to look up?"Harlem" has always been a very popular poem. What is the mood conveyed by the poem?Do the words or images help create that mood? Are the poem's similes vivid? Do these similes convey images or ideas or both? Please give examples for all of your responses--as always, more is better.

1."Not Waving but Drowning" 2. "We Real Cool" 3."Harlem"Read the three poems several times, listen to them, and then discuss some of the following questions with the other students in the class.
