Pro Introduction
The author of this article argues about the common question and beliefs regarding
friendship. He explores various perspective, opinion, and views that have been postulated to
explain the true manifestation of friendship among people. The author ends the argument over
friendship with the controversial conclusion that friendship is a virtue that has become a critical
element of the daily life of human beings. The author points out that rarely will an individual
chose to live in solitude without the company of friends. He goes ahead to give an example of
the rich and people and those in powerful positions who need friends more than anyone else
despite the fact that they have all the material possessions in life.
In light with the above argument, the author goes ahead to disregard the possibility of an
individual benefiting from materials prosperity or instruments of power, if there was no
opportunity to make friends and enjoy the company of friends. Accordingly, the author notes that
beneficence can only be enjoyed when one has friends to display the highly praised utility in an
individual’s life. Consequently, friends are important in protecting and guarding the prosperity
that an individual has achieved in life because greater friendship will lead to more prosperity
while lack of friends is precarious to the prosperity of an individual.
