The Intelligence Cycle

A policy denotes the plan that a business or government wants to use. Policy makers are
the people who create these plans. An example of a policymaker is a mayor, president, school
board, the board of Directors in a corporation among others. The intelligence cycle develops raw
information that policymakers use to make decisions. The intelligence cycle has five stages, the
planning and direction stage, the collection stage, processing stage, analysis and production stage,
and the dissemination stage.
The planning and direction stage is the first and the last in the cycle. This stage involved
drawing up requirements that the collection stage will use. The requirements are to specify the
