It operates in 26 different countries, and with the help of donations, has funded 29,725 water projects. Through them, the organization gave clean and safe water to approximately 8.5 million people. Use of graphics design elements in the organization’s websites The organization’s websites use several graphics design elements. These include the selection of different types of grid designs, color, typography, and imagery. The overall effect is an appealing website that attracts the attention of the audience and moves it towards learning more and donating a part of their money to coopoperate in the water projects. Grid designs The most commonly used design by the organization’s website presents a combination of one single columned row filled with text, followed by two or three columns with images and a hyperlink to other sections of the website that allow the interested audience to learn more. Through this grid design, the organization avoids inserting too much text in the website. The result: A highly attractive website that immediately catches the eye of the audience. Those interested in learning more about a specific topic can click on the image to be redirected to a website containing more information. Other grid designs used include the combination of 2x2, 1x2, or 2x1 grids to form several different patterns, as shown below. Color The color selection used in the organization’s website attracts the attention of the audience while enabling it to remain focused on the topic. In this regard, it uses colorful images, black text, and white text inserts on the different images. Keeping the things simple and maintaining a uniform color style throughout the website and related content enables the audience to remain focused. Typography The website focuses the attention on different parts of the text through the selection of multiple typographic styles. Thus, it uses bolded text, bigger size and capitals when required. It also highlights special parts of the text through the use of underlined text. Imagery The website includes several images intercalated with the text. These images have two main functions: 1. Attracting the attention of the audience 2. Building trust on the projects organized, as they show real life photographies of the how these projects enable the people to have access to water. Clicking on the “Buy book” button will take the person to the next page, in which he can either buy the book or learn more about the author and the organization by inserting his personal details and the code that appears on the back of the book. Scrolling down the website, the person can find other alternatives to contribute to the projects of the organization, and how their money will be used to fund a specific water project. As shown in the image above, different companies like Instagram and Twitter also contribute to the fundraising campaign. A second pathway represents a person that wants to learn more information about the projects organized by the organization. A possible approach to gain an overlook of the different activities is through the videos posted by the organization. To access these videos, the person would need to click on the corresponding button located in the home page. Lastly, a third alternative involves a person that does not know anything about the organization and wants to learn about it before deciding to donate to it. This person is likely to scroll down the home page, and be interested in learning how the organization contributes to solve the problem of lack of access to clean and safe water, which as shown below affects 10% of the population. This individual is likely to click on the Learn more buttons to gather more information about the water crisis and how the organization contributes to solve it.
