INTRODUCTION
Internet security is a major challenging facing most organizations worldwide. As
companies strive to keep their systems secure and productive at the same time, attackers are out
seeking weak entry points into a system. It is needless to mention the long term effects of such
malicious activities on a system. However, internet use may be limited by individual
governments in a mission to protect their citizens and ensure national security. Governments
implement restrictive measures such as censorship in order to accomplish internet security.
Unfortunately, measures enacted by governments are not always in the best interest of
commercial institutions. Such measures tend towards promoting government interests more than
the public’s interest. This leads to compromises on the security and privacy of all internet users.
In this paper, we study internet security in Saudi Arabia. This country is ranked 164th out of 180
countries in freedom of internet use. It is second to Egypt in the list of Middle East countries that
have tight restrictions on internet use. In the following paragraphs we take a look at some of the
security and privacy risks and vulnerabilities.

The first risk is getting your website blacklisted. Saudi Arabia monitors all traffic inflow
through the country’s internet through the King Abdulazziz City of Science and Technology.
This is done to block pornographic content access by the citizens. Additionally, censorship is
done to block the influence of terrorism activities by ISIS. This is totally legitimate. However,
