Analysis of Association of Southeast Asian Nations
Introduction
The formation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by Southeast
Asian Countries aimed at promoting the intergovernmental corporation as well as facilitating
economic and political stability. Some of the reasons why ASEAN maintains a global network of
alliances include its presence as a global warehouse, being among the most influential and
prominent organizations in the world, and being Asia-Pacific central union for cooperation.
There are three pillars that the ASEAN community aims at achieving: socio-cultural, economic,
and political security. The summit level approves each pillar’s blueprint distinctively. ASEAN
has a more significant impact on the Asia-Pacific trade and issues related security and politics
compared to the achievement that the states could realize if they worked independently. This
reason has formed the basis for driving the efforts of building ASEAN community to benefit

a firm timetable that led to the full implementation of the agreement in 2002. Generally, in the
context of the increase in the trade flows, trading between the ASEAN countries accounted for a

total trade between ASEAN and the rest of Asia. The new economic community, ASEAN
Economic Community (AEC), has led to the creation of a single market within the community as
well as the free flow of goods, capital, and investment among others hence the ability to produce
products for other global markets. Although ASEAN economic corporation failed to evolve into
a regional economic bloc, it promoted regional order that enables the member-states to widen its
market to other nations for profit maximization and increasing the concentration on the
establishment of the essential requirements for an open economy that relies on the free flow of
investment and trade.
Furthermore, ASEAN facilitated the ability of the member states to participate in
international organizations and conferences as a group hence increasing their impact on the
global market. The organization is responsible for the formulation of a common position
regarding different global economic issues including developme...
