The following report is a case study analysis of the ‘ABQ Ride Employee: I wouldn’t
Allow my Family to Ride a Bus”, whereby the main concern is the growing state of insecurity
with regards to riding ABQ buses. According to an anonymous source from the current
workforce at the company, everyone including drivers and security guards had begged the
leadership of ABQ Ride to do something about the growing state of violence on the buses for
years, but to no avail (James, 2017). The employee added that swords, bats, pipes, and guns had
been pulled on the bus, and it was a matter of time before someone is seriously injured. In fact,
the employee asserted that he would not allow his family to ride a bus because of the risks
involved. These fears were confirmed during the Saturday stabbing incident that occurred aboard
a city bus, leaving a man critically injured.
Role of OSHA in this Situation
The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 passed by the US Congress paved way
for the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), a regulatory
body tasked with the duty of assuring safety and healthful working conditions for working men
