Introduction
Drug and substance abuse is a common occurrence in the United States that the federal
agencies are always working to create drug enforcement and treatment that will solve the
problem. The most commonly abused drugs and substances in the US is alcohol, depressants,
hallucinogens, heroin, cocaine, and marijuana. Abuse of drugs has brought impacts not only
culturally but also socially, economically, financially and in many other aspects. The Drug
Enforcement Administration (DEA) is responsible for dealing with drug distribution and
smuggling and enforce federal drug laws. The war against drugs should not be left only in the
hands of the federal agents; it should be the obligation of every individual as well as the
community at large. This paper is a reflection paper that focuses on the impact of drug
enforcement and drug treatment in America.
