Operant conditioning is a learning method that is brought by rewards or punishments for
particular behaviors. It allows one to make a connection between a particular behavior and its
consequence. The theory was established by BF Skinner who found that the classical
conditioning was too simple to make an excellent explanation of the human behavior. Skinner
claimed that to understand the behavior of a person, psychologists have to consider the cause of
action and the possible consequences of the behavior. According to Skinner, an act that brought
pleasant outcome is likely to be repeated severally while that with unpleasant consequence will
not be repeated (Blackman, 2017).
