Introduction
In every occupation, there are elements within which the whole operation and day to day
undertakings revolve. This would mean that without them, the whole undertaking would not be
rightly called by its name. Data entry, there are elements which facilitate the process and assure
the user that the end result will be reliable. Therefore, without these elements which acts as a
condition without which any operation can be successfully be done, data entry would not be
possible at all. Herein, the elements are expounded.
Elements of Data Entry
There are several elements that have to be there for data entry to be successful. These
elements can variously be called stages. The elements will always remain constant provided that
the task in question will involve any type of data entry. According to (Rudo, 2013), the four
elements are Data collection, Analysis, input and Processing, Interpretation and Storage.
Data Collection
The initial step of data entry process starts with data collection. In this stage, the data is
collected in its raw form. However, it is of high importance to determine which kind of data you
want to collect and consequently use the appropriate method. The method that will be preferred
would definitely determine the kind of equipment and the environment where data will be
collected. According to (University of Minnesota, 2018), the method can range from interviews,
questionnaires and surveys, documents, observations, oral history to focus groups. For instance,
