Introduction
• Advertising to children is a controversial issues because children are in the category of a
category known as the vulnerable audiences to advertising strategies.
• Children have become a target for many advertisers because they perceive the persuasive
intent of the commercials they way the advertiser wants them to perceive (Berning &
McCullough, 2013).
• These children lack the ability to assess advertising appeals and claims, and thus, are inclined
to perceive the message carried in commercials as honest and impartial.
• Therefore, if a commercial targeted to children infringes its transparency, credibility, and the
privacy of a child, then it is recognized as unethical conduct (Berning & McCullough, 2013).
