Much of the traditional literature on organizations has been based in Newtonian images of the world as a mechanical operation where the manager's task is to control outcomes, determine truth, and make sure things are right. My area of focus in the two interviews that I conducted was resilience mastery. I wanted
to know how demanding my interviewees’ jobs are, their life balance, how they cope with
challenges and pressures at work among other things. I had the tremendous good luck of
interviewing two middle-level managers who were passionate about discussing resilience
mastery. The two interviewees are Angela Hicks, a human resources manager and John Roberts,
an operations manager. I had a great experience interviewing the two on the sensitive matter.

I had prepared 14 interview questions connected to the topic of resilience mastery.
Interviewees were asked how demanding their jobs were, average working hours per week,
personal life demands, their ability to balance their lives, and the actions and commitments they
