The first objective of the research shall be to determine the costs associated with the use of thirdparty logistics. This part of the research paper shall, therefore, be looking to determine the
methodologies to be used in determining the difference brought about by the use of third-party
logistics. There shall also be the determination of the amount of the differences in costs when
making use of the traditional logistics methods vs. the use of third-party logistics. However,
there shall first be the need to understand the concept of third-party logistics and some of the
reasons that lead to companies being forced to acquire third-party logistics.
Third-party logistics commonly referred to as 3pl refers to companies that offer freight and
logistics services to companies requiring their services (Coyle, et Al., 2013). On the one hand,
most of the companies are not able to consolidate a working logistics department that can
oversee the shipment of some of the products they might offer from abroad. As such, they are
forced to seek the services of companies who have their business solely based on logistics. They
