How the Articles Relate to Role of Leaders and Leadership Styles
According to Carlock (2012), the role of leadership styles such as situational
leadership, reflect the growth stage and environment of the team which would be more
effective. The situational leadership style assists the leaders to be successful by adopting
their actions to a situation that requires a given specific need. Understanding and aligning
the leaders’ style to uniform the development level, roles are performed, goals are
achieved, and the development of relationships. Carlock (2012) also suggests that leaders
are a great assistance to teams because their support is vital to monitor performances,
form teams, empowerment, and team development. By extension, leaders should play the
role of empowering their teams through supportive and new leadership behaviors thus
building openness and trust, demonstration of concern, encouraging initiative taking, and
providing information (Carlock, 2012). The leader acting as a supporter replaces being
the boss and instead, the leader. Carlock (2012) suggests that effective leaders empower
teams by their excellent practices such as coaching, participative decision-making, and
interaction with other groups.
According to Resnick (2011), the role of leadership styles is to assist the
management in determining the leadership techniques and skills to utilize in different
situations. The managerial methods help a leader when describing co-located teams and
