Introduction
Diabetes is a common health problem that causes a person blood sugar to rise beyond the
average level. Type 2 diabetes is the most prevalent form of diabetes. When an individual has
this disease, their body is not able to use insulin properly. This situation usually is referred to as
insulin resistance. At first, their pancreases make insulin in order to make up for it but as time
passes by it becomes impossible to keep up and thus cannot produce adequate insulin to maintain
the normal level of blood sugar. Hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and insulin resistance (Kahn
et al. 1072) characterize this diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes is the topic in this research paper, its
metabolic and physiologic effects, treatments, and treatment side effects will be discussed in
detail. The disease is among the biggest public health problems facing the world today owing to
the lifestyle changes, diet preferences, and genetic predisposition.

protein degradation (Franz et al. 1453). Insulin also affects how permeable the body cells are to
phosphate, potassium, and magnesium ions. An insulin resistance syndrome characterizes type
11 diabetes in its initial stages. The target tissues will fail to give an appropriate response to
insulin. The physiologic effects of Type 2 diabetes include insulin insensitivity, glucose transport
dysfunction, cell damage, excess toxici...
