Schliemann was one of the luckiest archaeologists. He discovered the remains of Troy
which was ruled by Priam and at Mycenae in Greece which was the home of King Agamemnon.
He made his discoveries by seeking government permit and conducting numerous digs to
discover the treasures. To find the ancient city of Troy Schliemann used geographic cues from
the Iliad copy and he used the distance estimations provided in the article to locate the city. He
hired local people to conduct the digs as he did his archeological work. He had to go to Paris to
study archeology for two years before he went to perform the excavation at Hissarlik. The ruin of
