MHA-FP5017 ASSESSMENT-2 Hypothesis Testing for Differences Between Groups

Assessment 2 – Hypothesis Testing for Differences Between GroupsOverview Perform hypothesis testing on the differences between two groups and create an Excel document. Write a 2–3-page analysis of the results in a Word document and insert the results into this document.Note: You are strongly encouraged to complete the assessments in this course in the order they are presented. Hypothesis testing is a foundational statistical technique used to make decisions about a hypothesis. A hypothesis test compares two mutually exclusive statements (null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis) where only one is true. Hypothesis testing can determine statistical significance by examining the probability that a given result would occur under the null hypothesis. For this assessment, you will perform hypothesis testing on the differences between two groups.By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:Competency 1: Plan for data collection, measurement, and analysis.Generate a hypothesis about the difference between two groups in a dataset.Identify the appropriate statistical test in a dataset.Competency 2: Analyze data using computer-based programming and software.Performs appropriate statistical test of the difference between two groups in a dataset.Competency 3: Interpret results of data analysis for value-based health care decisions, policy, or practice.Interpret the results of a data analysis and state whether to accept or reject the null hypothesis based on the p-value and an alpha of .05.Write a narrative summary of the results that includes practical, administration-related implications of the hypothesis test.Competency 5: Communicate audience-appropriate health management content in a logically structured and concise manner, writing clearly with correct use of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and APA style.Write clearly and concisely, using correct grammar, mechanics, and APA formatting.Resources Statistical SignificanceFrey, B. MTH156 CSUGlobal New York Point Estimate & Confidence Interval Survey

Option 2: New York Survey Data InstructionsA consulting firm was hired to perform a survey on people living in New York City. The survey was completed monthly for six months by 445 randomly-selected people in different boroughs. There were a number of items on the survey, but six basic biographical items will be studied for this exercise. The data for the people surveyed in one of these monthly surveys can be found in the Excel file SURVEY. The variables that were used for the basic biographical data are found on the last page of the exercise. In this exercise, some of the estimation techniques presented in the module will be applied to the New York survey results. You may assume that these respondents represent a simple random sample of all potential respondents within the community, and that the population is large enough that application of the finite population correction would not make an appreciable difference in the results.New York City governmental agency personnel like to have point estimates regarding variables describing the biographical information of the people living within the different boroughs. It is very helpful for them to have some idea regarding the likely accuracy of these estimates as well. Therein lies the benefit of the techniques presented in this module and applied here.Item A in the description of the data collection instrument lists variables 1–5, which represent the respondent’s general attitude toward each of the five boroughs. Each of these variables has numerically equal distances between the possible responses, and for purposes of analysis they may be considered to be of the interval scale of measurement.Determine the point estimate, and then construct the 95% confidence interval for = the average attitude toward Manhattan.Repeat part (a) for μ2 through μ5, the average attitudes toward Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island, respectively.Given the breakdown of responses for variable 6 (highest level of education), determine the point estimate, and then construct the 95% confidence interval for p6= the population proportion of doctoral degrees.Given the breakdown of responses for variable 7 (marital status of respondent), determine the point estimate, and then construct the 95% confidence interval for p7 = the population proportion in the “single or other” category.Assume the governmental agencies requested estimates of the mean attitudes towards each borough with a margin of error of 0.05 for each borough. If the governmental agency personnel want to have 95% confidence that the sample mean will fall within this margin of error, how large should the sample sizes be for each borough?Paper RequirementsWrite a report that uses the Written Assignment Requirements under the heading Expectations for CSU-Global Written Assignments found in the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. Items that should be included, at a minimum, are a title page, an introduction, a body that answers the questions posed in the problem, and a conclusion paragraph that addresses your findings and what you have determined from the data and your analysis. As with all written assignments, you should have in-text citations and a reference page. Please include any tables of calculations, calculated values, and graphs associated with this problem in the body of your assignment response.Note: You must submit your Excel file with your report. This will aid in grading with partial credit if errors are found in the report.A. General Attitude toward Each Borough (Variables 1–5)1. Manhattan2. Brooklyn3. Queens4. The Bronx5. Research Method II

or the results section in Paper IV, you will provide information about your participants, materials, and procedure. Your participant section goes first, and it includes descriptive statistics about your sample (means and standard deviations for age and percentages of gender and race/ethnicity). This is a new sample of participants, so you CANNOT use Paper II for this information. Make it NEW! Your materials and procedure sections include information about what you did and how you did it (I already uploaded the Qualtrics Survey on Blackboard, located at Dataset, Qualtrics, & Results folder under Couse Tools on the left side of Blackboard). You should once again write this section for an audience who is unfamiliar with your newer study two variables, but you can actually summarize or refer back to study one variables if and when they carry over from study one to study two. In the end, just remember that you must educate your reader about your materials and procedure, giving enough detail so they could replicate study two on their own. Your Paper IV Method section will thus look a lot like your Paper II, but in Paper IV you will describe BOTH independent variables as well as important dependent variables (especially any new ones you added). I suggest reviewing your Paper II feedback to see if you need more clarity in your Method descriptions, but make sure that your reader is clear about the mechanics of your new 2 X 2 factorial design.
