PART I- SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
Behavior with Adults.
As three-year-old Meryl was being escorted to her father’s car for school by her nanny,
she turns back to blow a kiss to her mother, and shouts, ‘Goodbye Mommy!’ She then reached
for her nanny’s hand and practically pulled her across the lawn to where the car was parked in
waiting. Meryl seems to be quite a popular child among her peers because she easily shares her
toys and enjoys playing with the other children. She seems to be overly fond of her father for
whom she drops everything when he arrives home from work in the evenings. Meryl runs to sit
on Mr. Cole’s lap bubbling and shrieking with joy just as he settles down to watch television
with a mug of hot coffee. On days when Mr. Cole is out of town or working late, Meryl appears
withdrawn and constantly asks her mother where ‘Dada’ is.
When Meryl is doing her painting exercises, she directly asks for help from her nanny
who keeps her crayons, ‘Color I wanna draw…’ When she receives a complimentary cookie for
coloring the edges of her pictures correctly, she nods her h...
