WESTERN CIVILIZATION
Introduction
Western civilization refers to a constellation of political systems, customs, and beliefs which can
be traced back to the western culture and European industrial history (Caldwell, 2003). Western
civilization is felt worldwide. The history of western civilization is rooted in the Greco Roman
period. There were philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates who would portray the
western philosophy. It was also promoted by Judeo Christians who took the gospel and the
doctrines of their movement across Europe. Western civilization was marked by the renaissance,
enlightenment, reformation, liberal democracy and the industrial revolution. Western civilization
is also relevant in European countries through their immigration, influence, and colonization.
There are some of the developments in the western culture that led to the development of
civilization. These factors include the social, economic, religious and cultural leaderships during
the western culture.
