Leaders have a significant role to play in decisions making. Decisions in an organization
are not as easy as one would make personal decisions. A leader or a decisions maker has to
consider the opinion of others in making a decision that would affect everyone. A leader as a
decisions maker has to put into consideration how a decision would align with other people's
emotional well-being and if they would feel confronted or cared for by a decision (Kim & Beehr,
2018). However, some instances have been experienced where leaders have failed in empathetic
decision-making. In such cases, leaders demonstrated the insufficiency of their empathetic skills
in making reliable decisions.
Tim Cook is one of the most popular CEOs in the world has today. Furthermore, he leads
one of the biggest multinational companies in the world. However, Tim Cook has been under
adverse scrutiny over his leadership. In the recent past, some cases have shown the rotten side of
Tim Cook and the future awaits more provided he will remain as the leader of the big
multinational Tech Company. There are different events where Tim Cook has demonstrated
leadership without empathy. This does not however mean that Tim Cook has been a failure in his
leadership. O, his success outweighs his failures on any given day. Some of these incidences are
elaborated on below.
Back in 2012 after taking over as the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook felt the need to employ
John Browett as the vice president of Apple. This was a decision that Tim Cook made without
really considering the opinion of other people. Tim Cook did not engage others people's opinions
to assess whether he would fit at Apple or not. He just went ahead and hired John Browett as the
